Gcse Surf board
I am making a surfboard in school as part of my Gcse project. Im going to buy a blank in the 6 ft region and am shaping it into a retro fish. This is the first time some one in school has done this and i dont want to mess up my gcse practical so tips would be greatly appreciated. Many of the items are being supplied buy the school and i will only have to buy the blank, the deck plug, fins, a fin box and paint and stencils. (any tips on spraying the board with stencils would be greatly appreciated also like what paint to use? and how to do it). and finaly the placement on the fins and how deep the concave should be. Pictures would be excellent. Many thanks Jamz683

Re: [jamz683] Gcse Surf board
Good luck with the board - I'm not a shaper so can't answer most or any of what you are asking but why not see if you can get some "normal" foam like a PU insulation form or blue foam used in building insulation (think it's used in underfloor heating) and do some mock ups for the decal / practice sprays ... Just one word of caution NEVER cut it with a hot wire it will/could give off toxic fumes.
Why not get a lend of a board you like and try to copy it -that will give you fin placement.... also I've seen D fins made from wood with a good few layers of glass that glassed on to the board. They look great and that way you don't need fin boxes or have to buy fins.
