Why the no edit on a new thread?

Dear Mr Swaylock,

I try to get things right the first time... but I'm not perfect and I occasionally screw up...  and I can't believe I'm alone with this.

So, why the no edit on the original post, that is when you start a new topic?

Also, while we're solving problems and seeking advice... my girl friend says she thinks we should both start seeing other people, but that she still loves me and we'll still have sex, but less frequently. Even though she is on the pill, should I start wearing a condom?
