Post your Hull pictures Second Thread

Hopefully the discussion can continue in a positive manner. I have enjoyed lurking on the original thread for some time!! I will post pics of my new find a late 60's 7'6 Hull. Unsure of shaper due to a new gel coat. Board has an original Greenough 4a WAVESET fin- it is 7'6 in length- about 2.75 thick with pinched 50/50 rails

good to see we're up and running again.

Smoothie -- for a late 60s board, it looks in rather good shape!

The Fishull 1 glassed and christented in 1-2 foot dribble. At this point all I can say is that it floats.

Oh yeah...3" (nose rocker)+(S-deck)+(pulled nose)=Pearl Diver.

I wish I had some connection to USC to justify those colors...in fact I can't stand those guys (Go Gaucho's).

Lee: why did you go with high-aspect fins instead of keels? Looks awesome though ... can't wait to hear how she rides in real stuff!

Re: [9N78W] Post your Hull pictures Second Thread

"Keels are in the mail!" or so I've been told.

Rails are typical "hull" but not as pinched. Due to poor planning by me on the blank/rocker/length front, the hull ended up right around the middle of the board rather than up towards the bow.

Re: [LeeV] Post your Hull pictures Second Thread

Congratulations Lee, you got 'er done. Looks nice. The keel fins will make a difference. Wouldn't it be nice if as soon as you got the board ready there was actually some surf? The wait can drive you nuts.

Re: [LeeV] Post your Hull pictures Second Thread

that 7'er is somewhere between 8-10 lbs, we dont have a scale at the moment, the chambered one is in the high 20's by best guesstimate...but until we have a scale im not fully sure!

Very cool looking board. Is this not the chambered board? If not, what is it?

not the chambered one, that one is coming along still, im unmotivated from lack of waves...so new projects are moving quicker!
this one is foam w/ 1/8" paulownia skins and 1/2" solid rails, much much much lighter!

ah, just finished today...no surfing yet; and by light im talking somewhere around 10-12 lbs as a guess until i find a good scale. light as compared to my chambered board which is 3x heavier.

Here is an old Liddle from '78. Greg was kind enough to send me a copy of the original order placed by my brother.
Cost? $142.04. 7'10" X 22 1/4" X 3 3/8". NR = 4 1/2", TR = 1" according to order sheet... I have not checked to verify if he hit those numbers.

Re: [surferguy80] Post your Hull pictures Second Thread

Nice looking board. What type and density of foam did you use? I'm thinking of doing a similar board with 0.75# polystyrene to get the flex going, but it would come out around 8 pound...

John, those numbers change an 1/8 to a 1/4 in. after glassing with volan, same today.

There is some small wind swell in the water right now (at least down here). Here is my local secret spot this morning. Would have been fun if I didn't have to work.

No concave… the board is a full foiled hull. Many brain cells spent on fin shape and placement. Two years from brain fart to fruition with this one.

Matt, if you were asking me… the last time I surfed was Saturday afternoon 5/24. When I took the twin fin for a spin. Or should I call it the 2 fin foil??

Not much of an S-deck, is it? I really like the first pic. A lot of curves going on compared to a more modern hull.

Re: [mijknahs] Post Hull Pics

Here are two boards that have very similar outlines. 1 is a 1969 Creative Design California Custom hull (in restoration). It's a pulled in gun like outline. The second board is a 1990 GL Hawaiikine. The outlines, tail and even the bottom are close.

I think the order reads #1904 and it's from '78.

Hey Steiny, are you enjoying that 8' Andreini you posted in the old thread pages 61 & 63? My 8' Balsa Vaquero seems to have been infused with some serious magical ingredients...
