absolute pressure

The units of all (absolute) pressure is force per unit area. The prefix absolute is required to distinguish a pressure reading from the relative pressure reading known as gage pressure, which is taken relative to atmospheric pressure.

E.g. Atmospheric pressure is an absolute pressure.
